How To Sell

1.   You must have a clear title in your name.  Photo ID is required.  If the seller is not the title owner, they must possess a notarized power of attorney before the vehicle can be sold at auction.  This service is available at AAA.  Titles with the following defects will not be accepted: Documents NOT Notarized*, Open Titles, Jumping Signatures, Alterations, Erasures, Wrong Digits, Improper Reassignments, Missing Forms, Mileage Problems.   We DO accept R-Title and Salvage Certificates, but this title condition MUST be announced prior to bidding.  It is your responsibility to inform the auctioneer of this title condition and ensure that he announces it to all bidders.  Should you not ensure the announcement of the title condition, your sale may be voided.
2.   Call AAA to reserve a number or stop in the office.  When you bring your car to AAA, park in the general parking area, then go into the office to register your vehicle.  Please remove ALL personal effects from your vehicle, including your license plate, as the auction is not responsible for any items lost or stolen.
3.   The office clerk will ask you for your title. We also need your exact odometer reading, as you will be responsible for the correct mileage. If the odometer is not working, or has stopped in the past the vehicle is TMU (true mileage unknown) and must be sold with a caution light.
4.   If you are a public seller, there is a $40 registration fee. If you sell your vehicle, a Seller’s fee will be deducted from your proceeds check. These are the only charges to sell your vehicle. If you choose to re-run your vehicle the same day, a $10 re-run fee will be charged.
5.   You must tell the auctioneer how you wish to sell your vehicle. Use the Light System Guide to determine the condition of sale. You, the seller, are responsible for the accuracy of the information.
6.   When your vehicle comes up to the auction block, stand by the auctioneer and tell him what price you want for the vehicle. Be honest with the auctioneer, he is there to sell your vehicle!
7.   When the last bid is received, the auctioneer will confirm the highest bid to with you. You have the right to accept or reject the bid. If you accept it, the vehicle is now SOLD and you cannot change your mind! Please report to the office to sign off on your title.
8.   To protect our customers, all vehicles registered here are subject to inspection by the State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation or National Auto Theft Bureau. Do not bring any cars to the auction that does not have a serial number plate.
9.   Allentown Auto Auction will make every effort to legally complete the transaction between the Buyer and Seller. Should AAA for any reason fail to complete that transaction, the sale will then be considered “No Sale”. AAA does not guarantee a sale. In the event the buyer does not sign or pay for vehicle it will be re-run at the auction’s discretion. In the even a deposit is received and the buyer fails to complete the sale by 3:00pm the second business day after the auction, the deposit will be split 50/50 between the Seller and the auction. If the seller removes the car before 3:00pm the second business day after the auction, Seller will forfeit any right to deposit.

IF YOU SOLD YOUR VEHICLE:  Make sure you get the seller’s copy of  your transaction from the auction clerk, you may have to wait a few minutes until the Buyer signs the sales agreement and pays their deposit. After the Buyer pays for the vehicle, you can go into the office and pick-up your guaranteed auction check.  All checks will be made in the name of the title holder. At your request, checks may be mailed, however a $7.00 mailing fee will be deducted from your proceeds check.
IF YOU DO NOT SELL YOUR VEHICLE:  you can pick up your title in the office. Your title or your gate release will allow you to remove your car from the auction facility. If you choose not to run your vehicle through the auction for any reason, you will forfeit your $40.00 registration fee. If you decide to sell it to someone at the sale, the sale must be transacted through the office.
REMOVAL NOTICE: Vehicles that are not re-registered and not removed from the sales lot within 24 hours will be towed to the back lot ($35 towing fee) at the owner’s expense and charged a $15 per day storage fee. After Thirty days the vehicle will be towed to Auto Salvage and held until sold for storage fees. The owner will then lose all rights to the vehicle.  Any vehicle left in the front or side lots will be towed to the back lot and charged a $35 towing fee as well as a $15 per day storage fee.  If you need to leave your vehicle for pick up after the sale, it must be parked near the back gate and must be removed within 24 hours or all applicable towing and storage fees will apply.
